New materials in old walls 

To be able to enter and visit a castle permanently in wind and weather, special conditions are required. On the one hand, the preservation of the building fabric and its characteristics, on the other hand, the safety of the visitors. In recent months, those responsible for the Löwenburg Castle in Kassel's Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, which was built between 1793 and 1801, have also been dealing with this issue in the run-up to extensive restoration and sealing work.

Sealing the tower, platforms and walkways professionally and making them accessible to visitors posed a special challenge. It was not only a matter of coating the building "cleanly", protecting it against adversity and putting it into a contemporary condition, but also of preserving the visual authenticity of the historic building.

Protection, safety and the right look

The contractor Wilhelm Bedachungen GmbH used the KEMPEROL system superstructures for the 120 m² area, with which a sustainably safe result could be achieved.

For the Löwenburg, this meant first applying the KEMPERTEC primer, on which the KEMPEROL 2K-PUR waterproofing was then used. Then the KEMPERDUR quartz coating was applied, including the KEMPERDUR AC finish. The result: a safe coating that meets the requirements both visually and technically and will be usable for visitors in the long term.
